Frequently Asked Questions

We know visiting a church the first time may be intimidating. We want to make sure you feel welcome when you come here. Here’s what you can expect when you visit the Gettysburg Seventh-day Adventist Church!

What's The Music Like?

We believe that Sabbath mornings are for celebrating the Savior! Our congregational music is a combination of traditional, historic and contemporary hymns. If you love to sing, this is the place! Our special music can be instrumental, contemporary or traditional song, depending on the performer. We don't think you will need earplugs!

What's The Teaching Like

Our teaching is simple, practical, and relevant to our daily lives. Before the worship service we have a lively Sabbath School at 9:30 AM for infants through adult ages where each level program goes through the entire Bible in approximately 3 years. Even our newborns enjoy and engage in a class with their mom or caregiver!

Our Children's Sabbath School Bible Study includes Cradle Roll (birth-preschool), Kindergarten, Primary, Early Teen, Youth and Young  Adult. Children learn new songs, Bible stories, and have activities and crafts. Their quarterlies can be found HERE.

Adults are guided through their lesson with Bible readings, discussion and participation. You can find Adult Sabbath School Quarterlies HERE  The Sabbath School Quarterlies booklets and pamphlets are freely provided to members and guests.

What Should I Wear?

Wear what you want! Whether it’s a 3-piece suit or something more casual we want you to be comfortable to be who you are and focus on connecting with God. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 16:7... the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. God doesn’t consider your attire a major concern, neither do we! Church is not a fashion show yet it's also not a day at the beach.

What About My Kids During Church?

Our worship service begins at 10:50 AM. Your children can sit with you in either the pew or in our Mother's room. We have activity kits for the very small children that are available if you request. We have a children's story at every service.

Afterwards?

We love our visitors and invite them to our vegetarian potlucks, most Sabbaths. We have some amazing vegetarian cooks! You may not even be aware what you are eating is vegetarian!  We sometimes have hikes and other activities and invite our guests to participate in all our activities and socials.
